This wedding—oof, where do I even start? I met Nathalie back in 2013, in what honestly feels like another lifetime. We worked together at the Wawona Hotel in Yosemite National Park (now called Big Trees Lodge), where we instantly clicked. I’d drag her on some gnarly hikes, and she’d graciously put up with my shenanigans. Over the years, we stayed in touch from a distance, reconnecting whenever I made my yearly pilgrimage back to Yosemite.

Every time we saw each other, life had shifted a little—new adventures, new stories, and, eventually, new love. The last time I saw Nathalie in Yosemite was two years ago, and she had already started seeing Matthew. She was absolutely glowing with happiness, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled for her.

So when she asked me to photograph her wedding in the Dominican Republic, it was an immediate YES. Nathalie, being from the D.R., knew exactly how to turn this into an unforgettable celebration.
