Kansas City Luxury Wedding: Saying “I Do” at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art

I was so excited when I heard from Lindsay to capture her Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art Wedding in Kansas City! I had photographed Lindsay’s best friend’s wedding out in Hood River, so that’s how she found me. What a blessing that was. It was a real treat to get to visit Kansas City for the first time and eat all the BBQ we could get our hands on.

But this wedding? Good lord. It was peak luxury and beauty. Lindsay looked absolutely gorgeous. And that ceremony site? You can see just how many roses were used and I can tell you, it smelled just as amazing as you would expect.

Lindsay and Wayne first met for “a drink” and to watch one half of the Ravens-Eagles game on October 18, 2020. On the day they met, Wayne was running late. But Lindsay was, of course, running later. Wayne was waiting for her at the bar – Riptide in Fells Point – wearing an Eagles sweatshirt. Lindsay immediately thought that, if nothing else, this would certainly be interesting.

But she still intended to stay for only an hour. Lindsay and Wayne enjoyed spending time together so much that they stayed well past the end of the game and even had to pick up *their* dog Cupcake before they went on to have dinner at another nearby restaurant. Neither of them ever stay up particularly late, but that day they spent about ten hours together in total. When they finally said goodbye, they planned to meet again the following weekend and went on to spend that entire weekend together.

They really got to know each other throughout quarantine. They spent Thanksgiving 2020 together. Lindsay went on to throw Wayne a 40th birthday party on December 12, 2020. They also took a couple of weeks off of work during Christmas 2020 in order to cook together, to order-in together, and to binge series after series. They started to dread the time that they spent apart.

Cupcake – who had long been living in a single-parent home – quickly started preferring time in a two-parent home. She made it pretty clear early on that she preferred playing – or, more accurately, *roughhousing* – with Wayne. They quickly became a family and moved into their first home together in January 2021.

Even in the city, Cupcake has been able to enjoy her very first backyard and Wayne has taken it upon himself to perfect it for her. Lindsay and Wayne made it official and can finally each other husband and wife as of February 2023.
