Design Forward Castaway Wedding in Portland with Llamas

I’m going to start off by warning you that you don’t want to miss the special guest stars: THE WEDDING LLAMAS!

Kristin and Ryan are both creatives in their own right. They’ve been together for over 15 years and do all kinds of creative projects together — design, publishing, workshops, etc — and that spark is definitely just a part of their lives. They have far too many favorite memories together to boil it down to just a single moment in time and they believe that in love you choose the person to be the “one” every single day.

I think one of the most flattering things about being a photographer is having another creative hire you. Especially when it’s someone doing as cool as shit as Kristin is! It’s definitely a little nerve-wracking when I was brought on to capture Kristin and Ryan’s Castaway wedding in Portland, but I was all too stoked when I showed up.

Kristin was wearing a bright red custom dress designed by Elizabeth Dye, it was the perfect pop of color against the backdrop of greenery for their Castaway wedding. Their pops of creativity definitely showed in the intentionality of every aspect of their decor and it all came together so beautifully. Honestly, my jaw was on the floor when I saw how everything came together, it was so stunning! But for them, once the wedding day came they were just the most excited about being with the people they love, seeing as how most of them they hadn’t seen in so long! They were excited to share in the inside jokes with their best friends throughout the night. Not “haha” jokes but clever little moments that mean so much to just a select handful of people. At the end of their day they just wanted to make sure that everyone felt super loved and close and I think they wholeheartedly succeeded.
